HIGHLIGHTS

• Spectacular scenery and Australian wildlife
• Gourmet regional bush food
• Comprehensive and entertaining commentary all day full of local knowledge of bush foods, bush medicines, archaelogy, geology and lots of stories about our native animals

We pick you up from Ovens Valley Motor Inn at 8.30am and take you straight onto 4WD  wilderness tracks, travelling into the Alpine National Park – Victoria's largest national park covering an area of 646,000 hectares, and encompasses most of the state's highest mountains and also diverse and stunningly beautiful alpine topography with ranges, wild rivers, impressive escarpments, forests and open grasslands known as high plains.

Once in this wilderness park, we select somewhere very tranquil and peaceful for a tasty brewed coffee or cup of billy tea accompanied with hot home baked scones with jam and cream for morning tea.

Then up and onwards climbing higher towards a special vantage point overlooking the greatness of the Alpine High Country’s breathtaking views that roll through the mountain tops for miles and miles.  This is where we prepare you our award winning gourmet lunch. In the great outdoors, we prepare freshly smoked trout, a gourmet garden salad and homemade crispy bread, accompanied with local cool climate wines.  Nature’s best restaurant in the country.

You dine under the shade of the Snow Gums overlooking the beautiful Victorian Alps.  After this leisurely lunch, we continue on back to the valleys below for a slow return back to your accommodation. The day’s commentary is humorous and entertaining, full of local knowledge of bush foods, bush medicines, archaeology, geology and lots of stories about our native animals that live in these harsh but beautiful Alpine environments.  Make sure you bring your camera, as we look for spectacular vantage points for great photographs.
