A great way to experience the park is to drive the Great Alpine Road Touring Route which winds through the heart of the Victorian Alps on the highest altitude road in Victoria, and offers panoramic views as far as the eye can see.

The mountains also provide a stunning setting for a huge range of outdoor and adventure activities.

In winter when snow covers the high country, people flock to the hills to partake in snow sports. 

Wildflowers cover the slopes and high plains in brilliant coloured displays in summer when the warmer weather is ideal for walking and our 1 day Gourmet Wilderness Walk in the Alpine National Park takes you through the heart of it.

Fly-fishing for trout in the mountain streams is also popular.

For the more adventurous there are also opportunities to try mountain biking or horse riding along old mountain cattle trails or rip through rapids on white water rafting trips.
