yv_003.jpg Day 1: Just 45 minutes from Melbourne are the foothills of Victoria’s High Country, known to our traditional aboriginal owners as ‘Murrindindi’, or ‘Mist in the Mountains’. We enjoy the fruits of the Yarra Valley wine region and local produce, and then arrive at Healesville Sanctuary, Australia’s premier wildlife park. Here we get close-up with some of Australia’s most captivating wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, wombats, dangerous reptiles, Tasmanian Devils and huge birds of prey.

We drive through the Black Spur, one of Australia’s great forest drives, to ‘Woodlands Rainforest Retreat’ a luxurious boutique retreat and a winner in the 2006 Australian Tourism Awards.

Day 2: Our highlights include river rafting to spot the shy platypus on the peaceful Goulburn River, a visit to Bruno’s Sculpture Gallery (a magical rainforest setting full of fantasy, beauty and humour) and the thundering Stevenson’s Falls.

Day 3: You have a choice: a local sightseeing tour, a mountain bike ride or just time to relax in the rainforest. Our travels then take us to the Toolangi Discovery Centre, where the history of the forest unfolds, followed by a walk through the enchanted Wirrawilla Rainforest and a visit to the Cascades and their 7km of tumbling waterfalls.

Day 4: We return to Melbourne via the Cement Creek Skywalk, which takes us up 30metres (98ft) into a canopy of forest filled with 200 to 300 year old trees, and the old world town of Warburton for a leisurely lunch.
